Harry Keller Named To 2020 Financial Times 400 Top Financial Advisers

Conshohocken, PA April 16, 2020 – Financial Independence Planning (FIP) is pleased to announce that Harry Keller has been named for the second consecutive year to the 2020 edition of the Financial Times 400 Top Financial Advisers. The list FT Top 400 is an industry recognition that does have a strict recognition criteria.
This is the eighth annual FT 400 list, produced independently by Ignites Research, a division of Money-Media, Inc., on behalf of the Financial Times. Ignites Research provides business intelligence on investment management. This is the second consecutive year Harry has been awarded this prestigious honor.

From 13,000 registered investment advisors, Financial Times invites a select group to apply for consideration. They have to meet a minimum set of requirements such as having 10 years’ experience to be invited. This year, less than a thousand were invited to apply. The applicants are graded on six criteria: assets under management (AUM); AUM growth rate; experience; advanced industry credentials; online accessibility; and compliance records. There are no fees or other considerations required of advisers who apply for the FT 400. The reasons for the criteria are:
(1) Assets under management can signal experience managing money and client trust.
(2) AUM growth rate (we look at both one-year and two-year growth rates) can be taken as a proxy for performance, asset retention, and ability to generate new business.
(3) Years of experience indicate experience managing assets in different economic and interest-rate environments.
(4) Compliance record provides evidence of past client disputes. A string of complaints could signal problems.
(5) Industry certifications (such as CFA, CFP) demonstrate technical and industry knowledge and obtaining these designations shows a professional commitment to investment skills.
(6) Online accessibility illustrates commitment to providing investors with easy access and transparent contact information.

Assets under management accounted for an average of 70 per cent of each adviser’s score. AUM growth rate accounted for an average of 17 per cent.

The final FT 400 represents an impressive cohort of elite advisers, as the “average” adviser in this year’s FT 400 has over 28 years of experience and manages over $1.9 billion in assets. The FT 400 advisers hail from 44 states and Washington, D.C.

“It’s our clients that make us who we are. Most are ‘The Millionaire Next Door’, folks who have worked hard, saved, and look forward to enjoying their retirement, travel, and spending time with family and friends. Our financial advisors and client service teams work hard to provide a consistent process and reliable service to help our clients enjoy their retirement,” Harry commented.

Added Patrick Hynes, FIP’s Head of Client Services, “Despite having founded FIP 25 years ago, before the internet was around, Harry has been adamant about evolving to be able to meet with clients on the phone and online and stay in touch quarterly, even when they are traveling or living overseas. Especially in these times of social distancing, this has been an important asset that lets us provide excellent client service”.

“Harry is the embodiment of a Financial Advisor and what a business person should be,” noted Andre Robinson, SVP Head of Advisory and Financial Planning at Voya Financial Advisors.

Financial Independence Planning Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Conshohocken, PA April 28 2020 - Financial Independence Planning, LLC is proud to announce the celebration of its 25th anniversary. Founded in 1995 by Harry Keller, FIP has grown the last quarter century as a premier provider of financial planning services.

“My father’s approach was unique at the time. 25 years ago, financial planning was not even a major in colleges. Harry looked around and saw advisors having transactional relationships whereas he saw planning as a way of life with his clients. He focused on a goal-oriented approach fostered through quarterly calls or meetings, educational seminars, and fun events. He thought of this when everyone else was just focused on one transaction at a time. He was very methodical in his approach and even trade marked our FIP 8 Step Process™!” observed Jared Keller, CFP and a Senior Advisor with the firm.

Over the last 10 years, FIP has experienced incredible growth – driven by strong client retention and a sustained belief in their mission “helping clients not worry about money and enjoy what is important to them.” In the last year, the firm has added four new client service associates for a total of 9 in the client services team, which enables the organization to expand in the next 25 years to support more clients. The client service team also works tightly with advisors with workflows that have enabled the firm to navigate the current COVID-19 crisis for their clients seamlessly. Building processes and workflows for teams to work both paperless and remotely has allowed the FIP Team to engage with their clients without interruption when meeting for both Quarterly Calls and for Annual Reviews. Integrating video conferencing technology, web based financial systems, and maintaining advisor availability, this close communication provides an effective response to clients during a trying time. FIP continues to evolve and grow through new technology and new ideas to keep improving the client engagement experience.

“We are looking forward to launching the 25th anniversary celebration with our clients, their friends and family at our second annual Charity Gravy Bowl on September 12th. Hopefully current social distancing measures will be improved. I am thankful to our clients, friends, and family for their continued support.” said Harry Keller, President and CEO of FIP.

He added, “We continue to expand and have actually increased our business during these difficult times. Clients are referring their friends to us and we certainly have capacity as we have not only added client services but also advisors.”

Client Login Update

Dear Valued Clients,

We are delighted to hear many of you are enjoying your summer while still practicing social distancing and staying safe. In the last quarter, while we transitioned to maintaining a high level of client service online, we also expanded our client service team and updated our website.

You may have recently noted some of our website updates, with new press releases and links to other social media such as LinkedIn.

Some of you have also noticed that the Client Login page was updated. It now allows you to login in three ways:
• Albridge
• myFIP
• Login to Voya

You can still login to your accounts as done previously, through Albridge. To do this, when you hit Client Login, scroll down the Albridge link located on the far left. For those of you that have done so, you can use your password and review/print reports as you always have. For those of you that have logged into your account on the Pershing platform, the navigation on the far right – Voya – enables you to log in to that portal exactly as you always have before.

The newest addition is myFIP. This is the portal that the FIP advisors use to conduct, analyze, and update a full 360- financial planning for our clients. The accounts are updated in real time for planning purposes. We feel very strongly as we move towards a virtual environment, this tool is powerful in enabling us to stay closely aligned with changes in your life, thus enabling us to partner in lockstep with your needs. The portal allows you to link your bank accounts, credit cards and so forth so that you too can review your financial picture as you make plans for vacation spending, allocate for big projects, and so forth. Our advisors have been using myFIP now for a while and you can certainly enjoy a discussion with them about myFIP during your periodic zoom or call updates.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary here at FIP, we are happy that we have helped our clients navigate this challenging year. By routinely monitoring each client’s comprehensive plan in coordination with their investment portfolios, we have helped valued clients like yourselves continue to enjoy what is important to you and will continue to guide your investments with utmost care. Our educational and fun events have also transitioned to both podcast and livestream format. Some of you, even those not in the US or in the Philadelphia area, joined us for our first educational seminar last month – the Half-time Economic Forecast.

We hope you have a wonderful rest of the summer!

Thank you again for being a valuable client and part of our FIP community.

Your FIP Team
